Volume 7, Issue 2 (2026)
Prof. Samih Isber – American University of Beirut, Department of Physics, Bliss Street, Beirut, Lebanon
This edition of BAU Journal – Science and Technology include a prolific and multidisciplinary collection of research papers in a variety of emerging topics. Part of this edition was dictated by the rapid advancement of society and technology. Innovations in emerging areas like AI, Data Science and digital connectivity continue to reshape how humans live, work, and communicate. The issue incorporates insightful contributions on the use of data science and artificial intelligence to improve the diagnosis in healthcare specifically in dentistry and breast cancer, social networks security, cyber fraud and bots accounts. In the agriculture foundational field for human survival serving not only to feed billions but as the ultimate preventive medicine, health care and well-being. Two studies shed light on the powerful potential of plant-based solutions: one of the studies report on the success rate of broadleaf tree growth in semi-arid Mediterranean environments in the Bekaa-valley, Lebanon and another study investigates quantitatively the extraction capacities of antioxidant and anti-hemolytic from eucalyptus camaldulensis leaves for applications in the domains of pharmaceuticals and medicine. Environmental research is also fairly represented, with a paper offering a risk management on emerging technologies for safety on Nigerian road construction projects. Applied physics and engineering are embodied through study proposing the development of CdTe based thin film heterojunction solar cells by electrochemical deposition from aqueous solutions. The issue also includes an AI-powered sentiment-aware with a statistically rigorous study on the rise of online shopping. The proposed study employed deep learning models for feature extraction for sentiment analysis to turn reviews into interpretable scores that would nominate optimal products.
It is hoped that the current edition further the interest of many researchers’ and help in stimulating new insights and ideas. We also take the opportunity to congratulates and extend our warm to all the contributing authors for their dedication and outstanding works, which have greatly enriched this edition.
