Peer-Review Process
BAU Journal – Science and Technology (BAUJ-ST) follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the scientific quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of submitted manuscripts.
Upon submission, each manuscript is initially evaluated by the Editorial Board or the relevant editor to assess its scientific validity, originality, relevance to the journal’s readership, compliance with the journal’s aims and scope, and adherence to submission and ethical requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.
Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Authors may suggest potential reviewers in their cover letter or through the submission system; however, the journal is not obligated to use the suggested reviewers and may appoint alternative experts.
Under the double-blind review model, the identities of the authors, their affiliations, and their institutions are concealed from the reviewers, while the reviewers’ identities remain confidential and are not disclosed to the authors. Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and are shared only with individuals directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process.
Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest upon receiving an invitation and must decline the review when such a conflict could affect, or reasonably appear to affect, their impartiality.
Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to improve the manuscript’s clarity, scientific rigor, relevance, and overall quality. When revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised manuscript and a detailed response addressing the reviewers’ comments within the deadline specified in the editorial decision. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the same reviewers for further evaluation.
The complete peer-review and editorial decision process normally takes approximately 16 weeks from the date of submission. This timeframe may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, the time required for revisions, and the number of review rounds. Authors will be informed of any significant delays.
The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection is made by the responsible editor or the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers’ reports, the authors’ responses, and the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s academic and ethical standards.
Once accepted, the manuscript is placed in the publication queue for the next available issue. Before online publication, proofs are sent to the corresponding author for proofreading. After publication, changes may only be made through the journal’s formal correction, retraction, or update procedures.
