Abstract
The Ice Company, a dystopian novel, is the first volume of a 64-volume saga which met with great success among readers. It was adapted into a comic strip by the JOTIM group and also into a television series. On an earth invaded by ice, the survival of the human species is ensured by the large railway companies which share the globe. They provide warmth and food, but also exercise a ruthless dictatorship. Involuntarily involved in the intrigues of the Company, the glaciologist Lien Rag rebels against the power of the Company and the ostracism suffered by the Red Men, a new race capable of resisting very low temperatures. The proposed problem is formulated as follows: How does the author present the new world buried under the ice? Does the new society born from this climate change differ from the old society? Why does the main character rebel against the power of the railroad companies? To answer these questions, our plan will be composed of three parts. 1. Climate change and the new world it has brought. We will analyze the causes of climate change and the life that humanity now leads in cities placed on rails and the appearance of a new race, the Red Men who can resist very low temperatures. 2. The defects of the new society. The new society is afflicted by the defects of the old society: totalitarian regime; bitter war between the railway companies for power; social class inequalities; racism. 3. A problematic hero, the glaciologist Lien Rag Based on the theory of Lucien Goldmann developed in the work entitled Sociology of the novel (still current) we will show that Lien is a problematic character in search of authentic values in a degraded world. This is the case of Lien whose research into the origin of the Redhead Men, victims of the dictatorship imposed by the railway companies, is the manifestation of his revolt against the degraded world in which he lives.

La Compagnie des glaces, un roman de dystopique, est le premier tome d’une saga de 64 volumes qui a rencontré un grand succès auprès du lectorat. Il a été adapté en bande dessinée par le groupe JOTIM et également en une série télévisée.Sur une Terre envahie par les glaces, la survie de l'espèce humaine est assurée par les grandes compagnies ferroviaires qui se partagent le globe. Elles assurent chaleur, nourriture, mais exercent aussi une dictature impitoyable. Mêlé malgré lui aux intrigues de la Compagnie, le glaciologue Lien Rag se révolte conte le pouvoir de la Compagnie contre l’ostracisme subi par les Hommes Roux, une race nouvelle capable de résister à de très basses températures.La problématique proposée est formulée ainsi : Comment l’auteur présente-t-il le monde nouveau enfoui sous la glace ? La société nouvelle née de ce changement climatique diffère-elle de la société ancienne ? Pourquoi le personnage principal se révolte-t-il contre le pouvoir des compagnies ferroviaires ?Pour répondre à ces questions, notre plan sera composé de trois parties.1. Le changement climatique et le monde nouveau qu’il a entraîné.Nous analyserons les causes du changement climatique et la vie que mène désormais l’humanité sur des villes posées sur des rails et l’apparition d’une race nouvelle, les Hommes roux qui peuvent résister à de très basses températures.2. Les tares de la nouvelle société.La nouvelle société est affligée par les tares de la société ancienne : régime totalitaire ; guerre acharnée entre les sociétés ferroviaires pour le pouvoir ; inégalités des classes sociales ; racisme.3. Un héros problématique, le glaciologue Lien RagEn nous fondant sur la théorie de Lucien Goldmann développée dans l’ouvrage intitulé Sociologie du roman (toujours d’actualité) nous monterons que Lien est un personnage problématique en quête de valeurs authentiques dans un monde dégradé.C’est le cas de Lien dont la recherche sur l’origine des Hommes Roux, victimes de la dictature imposée par les compagnies ferroviaires, est la manifestation de sa révolte contre le monde dégradé où il vit.
