Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the impact of weather coldness on mood and cognitive styles among a sample of coastal area residents in Tripoli and a sample of residents from the mountainous region in Sir Al-Dinniyah area, Northern Lebanon. The sample consisted of 400 participants from the coastal area and 400 from the mountainous area, equally divided by gender (males, females). The study followed an analytical descriptive approach, utilizing the Positive Thinking Scale and the Mood State Scale after confirming their socio-metric characteristics. The statistical results revealed significant differences between the average scores of the population in the coastal areas with moderate coldness and the average scores of the population in the mountainous areas with high coldness regarding both positive thinking and mood state in favor of the residents of the mountainous areas with high coldness. Moreover, statistically significant differences were found between the female groups in the coastal and mountainous areas and the male groups regarding positive thinking and mood state.

الملخص (Abstract in Arabic)

هدفت الدراسة الى معرفة تأثير برودة الطقس على الحالة المزاجية وأساليب التفكير لدى عينة من سكان المنطقة الساحلية في طرابلس وعينة من سكان المنطقة الجردية في منطقة سير الضنية بلبنان الشمالي. بلغت العينة 400 من المنطقة الساحلية و400 من المنطقة الجردية حيث قسما بالتساوي وفق متغير الجنس (ذكور، إناث). اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي مستخدمة" مقياس التفكير الايجابي ومقياس الحالة المزاجية بعد التأكد من الخصائص السوسيومترية الخاصة بهم. بينت النتائج الاحصائية وجود فروقات جوهرية ذات دلالة احصائية بين متوسط مجموعة السكان في المناطق الساحلية ذات البرودة المعتدلة ومتوسط مجموعة السكان في المناطق الجردية ذات البرودة المرتفعة على مستوى كل التفكير الايجابي والحالة المزاجية لصالح سكان المناطق الجردية ذات البرودة المرتفعة. وعد وجود فروقات احصائية دالة بين مجموعتي الاناث في المنطقة الساحلية والجردية ومجموعتي الذكور على مستوى التفكير الايجابي والحالة المزاجية.
